Evidence-based research from academics, community organizations, policy analysts, and escort ladies themselves show that decriminalization does not unleash a flood of dangerous clients onto the passive bodies of sex workers. It frequently results in safer working conditions, enables employees to conduct safer customer screening, and fosters a sense of shared identity that lessens the stigma associated with sex work. Importantly, research has shown that the reformist approach of controlling clients and rehabbing those involved in sex work increases violence among escort females, decreases their income, and exacerbates whatever trauma already caused by the stigma of sex labour. Researchers who are interested in space and place study the interactions between gentrification and governmental policies in metropolitan settings that also function as community hubs and sex exchange sites. This frequently leads to an increase in concerns about the moral standing of such communities and the residents’ or employees’ moral standing. The component relationship between space and sexuality has also been discussed in the state’s establishment of moral geographies in regard to urban sex work space(s). Others speak of territorial stigma, which refers to the demonetization of specific locales because sex workers and other marginalized populations frequent there. These populations frequently struggle to get social and medical assistance as a result of this practise.

The increasingly vibrant subject of study on prostitution and sex work employs a wide range of disciplines, methodologies, and specialized specialization. The traditional focus on the moral standing and social lives of prostitution-involved women is shifting as more creative fields of study that account for the range of sex work forms, participants, and their unique lived experiences start to take shape. It is still a strongly contested area of study because of its relationship to societal taboos surrounding sexuality, desire, and the myriad ways that people pursue pleasure in both legal and illegal ways. The continued fascination with these subjects is a result of the connection between prostitution and sexual trafficking, as well as the lives of individuals who engage in it.
